1. Radix astragali, Milkvetch Roots is the root of astragalus
mongolicus and astragalus membranacus which are herbaceous plants
of leguminosae.
2. Originating in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Gansu, Heilongjiang,
etc., it is national three-level protection plant.
3. Tropism of taste a. Taste: Sweet and tepid. B. Meridian tropism:
Lung, spleen, liver and kidney. 4. Effects and indications: Radix
astragali has effects of tonifying qi, strengthening exterior,
arresting sweating, preventing exhaustion, expelling sore,
promoting tissue regeneration, inducing diuresis for removing
edema, etc. It is used for the cure of deficiency of vital energy,
lacking in strength, sinking of qi of middle-jiao, chronic
diarrhea, rectocele, hematochezia, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis,
exterior deficiency, spontaneous perspiration, no ulcerating of
ulcer, non-healing of boils, deficiency of blood, chlorosis,
endogenous heat, quenching thirsty, chronic nephritis, proteinuria,
diabetes mellitus, etc. Broiled radix astragali tonifies qi and qi
of middle-jiao while fresh radix astragali strengthens exterior and
expels sore.&
